Representative Suzanne Ness’ Dedication Recognized

Crystal Lake, Ill. – State Representative Suzanne Ness, D-Crystal Lake, is set to begin her third term among community accolades.

Rep. Ness was named the 2024 Metro West Legislature of the Year; the 2024 NAELA Legislature of the Year; and she was presented the Friend of Agriculture Award from the Illinois Farm Bureau.

2024 Metro West Legislator of the Year

Metro West Council of Governments is dedicated to fostering intergovernmental cooperation, providing research and training, and addressing regional issues like growth, transportation, and water conservation.

“Rep. Ness has been a champion of our mission, promoting excellence in local government, evaluating the impact of state and federal legislation on municipalities, and advocating for municipal concerns on all levels,” said Mike Reid, Metro West Council of Governments Executive Director.

2024 National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) Legislator of the Year –

Founded in 1994, the Illinois Chapter of NAELA is a non-profit association of attorneys who are dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to seniors and people with special needs.

“I am dedicated to working on legislation that protects seniors, individuals with special needs and their families, from exploitation, “ said Representative Ness.

Currently, Representative Ness is working on legislation that would offer protection for those under court-ordered guardianship.

2024 Friend of Agriculture Award

The Illinois Farm Bureau recognizes legislatures with a strong commitment to supporting local farmers and agricultural interests.

“Farmers are the backbone of America and supporting the farm bureaus
underscores the importance of working together to ensure their needs are met,”

Rep. Ness was presented with a John Deere 9R 640 collectable tractor on a wood base plate engraved with “Friend of Agriculture.” The award is based on a candidate’s voting record on agricultural issues and accessibility, evaluated by the Illinois Farm Bureau’s ACTIVATOR Trustee Committee.

Representative Ness’ recognition as Legislature of the Year for Metro West and NAELA as well as being honored with a Friend of Agriculture Award is a testament to her unwavering commitment, hard work, and the meaningful connections she fosters. These accolades celebrate her accomplishments.
