From State Rep. Joe Sosnowski:

104th Illinois General Assembly gets underway; Rep. Sosnowski embarks on new term

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) and all 118 members of the Illinois House of Representatives gathered on Wednesday for the inauguration of the 104th General Assembly held at the Sangamon Auditorium on the campus of the University of Illinois Springfield, taking the oath of office for a new two-year term.

“Six years under Governor JB Pritzker and his allies in the legislature has led to a $3.2 Billion budget shortfall and a shrinking tax base as jobs and families move to states with lower taxes and less regulation,” Sosnowski said.

“With all our incredible natural assets at the crossroads of America, Illinois can be a job magnet once again and a place people want to stay or relocate to for a better life, but only if we begin to reverse the harmful policies of the current Administration.

“In this new term, I will continue to be a voice for all those who want to see Illinois go in a new direction while continuing my commitment to provide the very best constituent service to local residents who need help interacting with a state agency or program.

“Together we can begin writing a new chapter in state history and ultimately make Illinois a stronger place for our kids and their families to thrive.”

Sosnowski has represented Illinois’ 69th District since 2011 serving portions of Winnebago County and Boone County, as well as portions of McHenry County since redistricting took effect in 2023.

Sosnowski has both an undergraduate and Masters in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

As a former City of DeKalb alderman, Representative Sosnowski moved to Rockford in 2004 and served on the Rockford City Council from 2005-2010 prior to being elected to the Illinois House of Representatives.

He spent 10 years in residential and commercial real estate before starting a career in fundraising development where he specializes in annual and capital plans for K-12 schools and senior living communities.
