During the last three months of 2024, prime time to support candidates, the McHenry County Democratic Women spent less than $2,100 and none was identified as supporting women.

$350 was transferred to the McHenry County Democratic Central Committee, but most was spent on fund raising for food and renting the Boulder Ridge Country Club and Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen.

The purpose of the Political Action Committee is “To support Democratic women running for offices in McHenry County.”

The group raised $1,680, including $250 from Julia Stratton, Illinois’ Lieutenant Governor. The rest was from smaller donations under $150.

The group started election season on October 1st with $12,795.90 and ended the year with $12,381.11, basically treading water.

Running for State Representative against Steve Reick was the woman who heads the PAC, McHenry Township Assessor Mary Mahady.

Also on the ballot was Kelli Wegener, who sought to oust Republican Mike Buehler as McHenry County Board Chairman.

There were also women running for County Board. including

  • Theresa Meshes in the southeaster part of McHenry County
  • incumbent Lou Ness in the Woodstock-Wonder Lake area,
  • Dawn Milarski in the north central part of the county and
  • Dawn Ellison in the Huntley-Marengo area.
