From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:

On Tuesday, January 21st, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 3700 block of Richmond Road in the Village of Johnsburg.

Fire crews arrived on the scene within five minutes to find a two-story home with flames visible from the roof and attic. Crews were advised that all residents had evacuated safely.

While enroute, the response was upgraded to a Working Fire, which brought in additional units and change of quarter companies.

Crews deployed hose lines to the home’s second floor for fire suppression while simultaneously searching the house.

Due to the frigid temperatures, a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Box Alarm was requested.

The fire was brought under control within 50 minutes.

No residents or firefighters were injured.

The fire is currently under investigation, and a damage estimate is not available at this time.

The house is deemed uninhabitable.

MTFPD was assisted by the Round Lake, Spring Grove, Wonder Lake, Fox Lake, Richmond, Libertyville, Cary, Wauconda, Antioch, Nunda, Woodstock, Lake Zurich, and Grayslake fire departments either on scene or change of quarters.

The American Red Cross assisted the residents after the fire.
