From the Marengo Fire/Rescue Districts:

Route 176 Single-Vehicle Crash

On January 25, 2025, at 7:23 a.m., the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts was dispatched to the intersection of Route 176 and Millstream Road for a reported motor vehicle crash.

Paramedics arrived within six minutes and located a single-vehicle crash along Route 176 just west of the intersection.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage after colliding with a tree.

Initial reports indicated that the male driver had been ejected; however, it was later determined that he was not ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

A medical helicopter was initially requested, but due to an extended estimated arrival time, the patient was transported by Marengo ambulance to Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside in Rockford with critical injuries.

MD-1 was requested and intercepted the ambulance on the way to the hospital to provide additional medical care.

Route 176 was closed in both directions for approximately 3 1/2 hours before reopening.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, and any additional questions regarding the investigation, including cause, contributing factors, or other details, should be directed to their office.

The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts thanks the Union Fire Protection District and assisting agencies for their support during the incident.
