From a Friend of McHenry County Blog:

State Senator & 8th Congressional District Democratic State Central Committeewoman Cristina Castro of Elgin sent out mailer trying to draw Democrats to the polls on April 1 using Elon Musk & “elections have consequences” theme.

Castro, who many believe will run for Congress if Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D, Schaumburg) runs for US Senate next year, targeted Democratic voters in Carpentersville (note spelling error) boosting two incumbent board members, along with Elgin Community College (ECC) leftist candidates and the Dundee Township Democratic Party ticket (though Trustee candidate Charity Drake (D, East Dundee) was omitted by Castro).

Should also be noted Castro is backing 2-term Carpentersville Village President John Skillman over Latina challenger Village Trustee Brenda Sandoval who gave up her trustee position to run for president.

The Castro mailer is clearly a targeted mailer for Carpentersville as Castro heavily involved in Elgin Township’s high profile race between Republican incumbent Supervisor Ken Bruderle & Democratic challenger Kane County Board Member Vern Tepe, who will not leave the County Board if elected supervisor. There’s likely an Elgin Township & Elgin City Council version of the same Elon Musk theme mailer.

Dundee Township candidates endorsed follow:

  • Supervisor – Shefali
  • Clerk – Elizabeth Clark
  • Trustees – Henry Flxemer, Melissa Day, Susan F. Harney

For Elgin Community College:

  • Melissa Barbos-Guzman
  • James Allen

In Carpentersville:

  • Mayor – John Skillman
  • Trustee – Jim Malone
