The Democrat Mindset – Part Two
I recently read a copy of the statement issued by McHenry County NOW about their We Resist Rally .
on April 5th .

Several sentences in their manifesto illustrate the mindset of the Democrat party and need to be analyzed and assessed.
The main message was – “Hands Off” the departments, essential services and retirement benefits that
our tax dollars are paying for.
It is quite evident that the Democrats are quite content with the federal government continuing to
steal huge sums of money from our children and grandchildren.
This was the primary reason why the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was established.
The last budget that was proposed by former president Joe Biden had the annual deficit pegged in excess of $1.5 trillion for the next ten years, so the Democrats obviously have no intention to stop the theft.
The federal government’s cumulative debt amount as of April 1st was $36.7 trillion, which equates to
$107,400 for every man, woman, child and retiree in the country.
Think about that for a second – do you have your $107,400 share (or times 2 or 3 or 4, etc, depending on your family size) available if you had to fork over your share of the federal government’s debt?
Democrats are content with having the federal government continue to print money out of thin air, which many people realize is what causes inflation, which causes the cost of everything in the economy to rise.
(Basic economics – supply and demand – is not their strong suit).
There were also several sentences in their manifesto about education.
The first point is that education is not in the US Constitution.
As such, under the Constitution’s Tenth Amendment, this is a responsibility reserved to the states or to the people themselves.
It is quite evident from the declining test scores of our children, the Department of Education continues to be a failed and failing institution.
The next question is in regards to “essential services”.
There is no doubt that federal government policies (and the resulting “non- constitutional” programs) have increased people’s dependency on the federal government.
But this is the agenda of the Democrats.
And this is why there is a massive amount of Waste, Fraud and Abuse in federal government spending.
And (evidently) despite everything that has been identified so far, Democrats are OK with the Waste, Fraud and Abuse.
Otherwise, they would not be out “resisting” what needs to be done.
And then there is the issue of retirement benefits.
The Democrats rely on fear to advance their agenda. They ignore (and lie about) President Trump’s assurances that the benefits paid to US citizens (real and living ones) under this program will not be affected.
And yet, they appear to be OK with benefits being paid to deceased individuals and illegal aliens.
My next blog post will be about the economics of Social Security.

A Response to the Misrepresentations About the “We Resist” Rally and Democratic Values
I read the blog post criticizing McHenry County NOW’s “We Resist” rally with interest, and I feel compelled to respond, not just because the post misrepresents Democratic priorities, but because it distorts basic facts and values that matter to millions of Americans.
“Hands Off” Means Accountability, Not Waste
The blog claims Democrats are content with “theft” and “printing money out of thin air,” but that’s an oversimplification of both fiscal policy and the motivation behind the rally. “Hands Off” doesn’t mean unchecked spending. it means protecting programs that people have paid into, rely on, and need. These include Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ care, programs that have long been supported by both parties.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) may claim to fight “waste, fraud, and abuse,” but using that mission as a smokescreen to gut programs working families depend on isn’t efficiency, it’s cruelty disguised as fiscal discipline.
Debt, Deficits, and the GOP’s Convenient Memory
Let’s talk about the debt. Yes, the national debt is high. But pretending this is a one-party problem is intellectually dishonest. Under Donald Trump, the national debt grew by nearly $8 trillion—even before the COVID pandemic, largely due to tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. Those cuts were sold as job-creating but never paid for themselves.
Democrats, by contrast, passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which reduced the deficit, allowed Medicare to negotiate drug prices, and made corporations pay their fair share. That’s real fiscal responsibility, not bumper sticker slogans.
Education Is Not a Constitutional Loophole
The post argues that education isn’t in the Constitution and therefore shouldn’t be touched by the federal government. But public education is foundational to a functioning democracy and a competitive economy. That’s why Republicans and Democrats alike have supported federal education funding since at least 1965.
And while it’s convenient to blame the Department of Education for declining test scores, those scores often reflect inequities in state funding, community poverty, and lack of support, not the mere existence of a federal agency.
“Dependency” vs. Stability
Labeling programs like Medicaid, food assistance, or subsidized housing as “dependency” ignores the reality that these are lifelines, not luxuries. Most Americans don’t want a handout, they want a fair shot. And when people have access to healthcare, food, housing, and education, they’re better able to contribute to the economy, raise their families, and serve their communities.
Cutting these programs in the name of “efficiency” isn’t reform, it’s economic sabotage and social abandonment.
Retirement Benefits & Scare Tactics
Let’s be honest: if anyone is stoking fear, it’s those who dismiss legitimate concerns about GOP plans to “reform” Social Security and Medicare by turning them into private schemes or raising the retirement age.
Democrats are right to resist cuts to retirement benefits, because workers paid into these programs. Safeguarding Social Security isn’t fearmongering, it’s fulfilling a promise. And let’s not pretend that payments to “dead people and illegal aliens” are anything more than fringe talking points rooted in misinformation and isolated errors that don’t justify dismantling a system for everyone.
Bottom Line
The rally wasn’t about rejecting efficiency, it was about rejecting selective austerity that targets the most vulnerable while protecting billionaires and bloated defense contractors.
Democrats are resisting not because they hate reform, but because they believe government should work for the people who built this country, not just the people who profit from it.–
