From the Cary Fire Protection District:
On October 21, 2024, 9:33 a.m., the Cary Fire Protection District and Cary Police Department were dispatched to Three Oaks Elementary School, located at 1514 Three Oaks Road, in response to a reported motor vehicle crash in the school’s parking lot.
Upon arrival, responders found that the vehicle involved had struck a sign and several parked cars in the parking lot.
The school’s nurse and staff had already initiated life-saving measures, including the application of an AED and performing CPR on an adult male driver, who had suffered an unknown medical emergency.
Paramedics took over patient care, and the patient regained a pulse before being transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for further treatment.
We commend the quick actions of the school’s staff, who immediately recognized the severity of the situation and acted promptly to deliver life-saving care.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of knowing CPR. Immediate action can save lives, and we encourage everyone to learn this vital skill. Visit www.caryfire.com/cpr- for more information.
The Cary Police Department is investigating the crash and any additional questions pertaining to the investigation (cause, fault, seat-belt use, speeds, etc.) should be referred to them.
