From the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts:
Two-Vehicle Crash with Multiple Patients
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 8:47 a.m., the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts were dispatched to the intersection of Collins Road and Vermont Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a reported crash with entrapment.

One of the vehicles, a small SUV, had rolled onto its side and was partially hanging over a guardrail.

The adult female driver of that vehicle was assisted from the wreckage by fire personnel and transferred to an awaiting ambulance for further evaluation.
No extrication was needed to remove her from the vehicle.

Due to the number of patients and the complexity of the incident, the call was upgraded to a Working EMS response to bring in additional ambulances and manpower.
A medical helicopter was also requested to the scene.

A total of six patients were evaluated. Five occupants were in a pickup truck, including an adult female and three children who were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with injuries believed to be minor.
An adult male who was also in the pickup declined any additional medical attention while on scene.
The medical helicopter initially dispatched to the scene landed in a nearby field but experienced a minor mechanical issue before patient transport could begin.

A second helicopter was requested and successfully completed the airlift of the SUV driver, who was transported in serious condition to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside Campus in Rockford.
The intersection was closed in all directions for nearly two hours while emergency crews treated patients, secured the scene, and coordinated air medical operations.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation into the crash. All questions related to the cause of the crash, contributing factors, vehicle speed, or seat belt use should be directed to their office. We appreciate the assistance of the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, the Huntley Fire Protection District, and additional responding resources for their support during the incident.
