It’s petition passing time, even for Precinct Committeepersons. Only ten signatures needed, but get twenty to discourage a challenge.

Here’s what’s up:

Republican U.S. Senate candidates

(some of these people may not make it to the ballot but they have filed FEC paperwork)

  • Don Tracy, former chair of Illinois Republican Party
  • R. Cary Capparelli, professor
  • Casimer “Casey” Chlebek, candidate for U.S. Senate in 2020 and 2022
  • John Goodman, veteran
  • Pamela Denise Long, occupational therapist
  • Jimmy Lee Tillman II, perennial candidate
  • Januario Ortega, ?

Republican Governor candidates

  • Joe Severino, former congressional candidate
  • James Mendrick, DuPage County Sheriff
  • Ted Dabrowski, WirePoints contributor
  • John Thomas, businessman
  • Max Solomon, former governor candidate, attorney, and Bremen Township Republican Committeeman
  • (expected) Aaron Del Mar, Palatine Township Highway Commissioner and Cook County Republican Party Chairman. There is a small chance he may run for U.S. Senate, but most expect he will run for governor.

Republican Attorney General

  • Andy Williams Jr, prison reform activist (not an attorney)
  • Joseph “Joe” Cervantez, former Jackson County State’s Attorney defeated in re-election
  • Bob Fioretti, perennial candidate and former Chicago Alderman

Republican Secretary of State

  • Walter Adamczyk AKA Big Wally, 29 Ward Republican Committeeman
  • Diane Harris, Joliet Junior College trustee

Republican Comptroller

Republican Treasurer

  • None

On the Democratic side the only real action for statewide constitutional offices is in the comptroller race. Mendoza is not seeking reelection. Those Democratic candidates for comptroller are

Democrat Comptroller

  • Margaret Croke, State Representative
  • Karina Villa, State Senator
  • Holly Kim, Lake County Treasurer
  • Stephanie Kifowit, State Representative
  • George Danos, Champaign County Auditor
  • Rickey Hendon, former State Senator and Chicago Alderman

Democrat U.S. Senate

  • Juliana Stratton, Lt. Governor
  • Robin Kelly, Congresswoman
  • Raja Krishnamoorthi, Congressman
  • About ten other candidates who combined have a zero % chance of winning; however, it is interesting that Awisi Bustos, the daughter-in-law and soon-to-be former daughter-in-law of former Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (Awisi is getting a divorce from Cheri’s son), is running.
