  1. As mentioned previously, the above figures apparently do not include two components of “overall compensation.”

    1. Employer Social Security contribution.
    2. Employer IMRF Pension contribution.

Here are the IMRF Employee and Employer Pension contributions from the CAFRs on the McHenry County website.

Note Employers contribute significantly more than employees in every instance except two years for 2 plans, which are IMRF Regular in 2002 and 2003.

Compare the County IMRF Employer contributions to your employers contribution to your 401k or pension.

Remember your property taxes are a primary source of revenue for the county.

The county also receives funding from the State and Federal government.

Increased employer contributions required by public sector pension plans and their impact on tax and fee increases (local, state, federal, property, income, sales, etc.) is a massive problem at the local, state, and Federal level.

With Illinois state and local public sector pensions being amongst the most lucrative in all 50 states.

The employer contribution hikes are primarily due to benefit and salary hikes.

You keep hearing “the state didn’t make it’s contribution.”

Well look what happened when the County did make it’s contribution.

    Increased employer contributions.

Which means increased taxes or reduced services.

Lots of tax dollars flowing to employer contributions.

Employer contributions larger than offered by private sector employers.
