Maybe readers can see where the Auditor would have the authority to pre-audit all vouchers to prevent purchases like the Christmas present jackets that County Clerk Mary McClellan bought, but I can’t.

Resolution to Change McHenry County Auditor Duties — 17 Comments

  1. First rule of amassing political power: Get as many appointed offices as possible under your control.

  2. What’s the reason for this? Is there something wrong with the way things are done now that warrants a change?

  3. Interesting that this is being proposed at the last minute before board members have a chance to digest it and ask questions.

  4. What’s the time and place of this meeting. I’d like to be there for public comment. Billy Bob is right on – this is about Jack Franks amassing power as he seeks to sneak the Chicago Machine in the backdoor to greater control of McHenry County government.

If you’re able to attend this meeting and raise a voice for greater financial oversight of McHenry County finances, your time would be well spent.

  5. Re: Is there something wrong with the way things are done now that warrants a change?”

I guess the jackal and the ‘blazer gifter’ do not like having auditor oversight of expenditures. They only want review ‘after the fact’ when payment cannot be reversed without filing a lawsuit – kinda like they do in Springfield you know.

  6. “Lining up with Jack Franks’ personal agenda to control McHenry County Government…” We know good journalism when we see one…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeoooooowwwwwww.

  7. So, do you think an auditor is overrated as a position with oversight in McHenry County? If you do, stay home tomorrow; don’t bother going to the McHenry County Finance Committee meeting (8:15 a.m. – followed by Committee of the Whole at 9 a.m., Room 104 of the County Administration Building – 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, IL).

If you want to comment on this matter, be there on time so you can be recognized for Public Comment.

At issue, as far as I’m concerned, is whether McHenry County government should provide financial oversight of itself or whether an independent auditor should review to ensure that, financially, the government operates above board and in the public interest. Personally, I think this is also about whether County Chairman Jack Franks can have unfettered control of the county’s budget and spending in his continued effort to give the Chicago Democratic Machine a foot in the door to McHenry government.

Please, join me tomorrow to take a stand against this governmental overreach.

  8. Should Klaatu Barada Nikto be notified about this? Just asking…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock…

  9. What is the jackal and his sidekick Peter hiding? No posting of bills paid since last November!!!

  10. If this passes, it’s a pretty safe bet that the “to be vacant” Financial Reporting Manager position will soon be filled by one of Jack’s cronies.

He’ll ‘find’ the money to fund the position the same way he did with his two patronage hires.

The Board will be presented with a fait accompli, and a majority of the Board Members will back down with their tails between their legs the same way they did before.

  11. Resolution, not bill. I’ve got my mind fixated on the General Assembly’s chicanery right now.

  12. Finance Committee vote will be 4-3 in favor of the Resolution.
Franks knows where the votes are; we should know by now too.

  13. Seems like something is missing. Shouldn’t there also be provision for having a third party independent auditor team regularly and periodically come to McHenry County and audit the Finance Division of McHenry County Administration?

  14. This will be charge #378 in People vs. Jack Franks aka “The Hyena”
