ROMAN CASTRO SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Roman Castro, 49, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, plead guilty to Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, a Class X felony and was sentenced to a period of 11 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Coppedge.

Under Truth in Sentencing Guidelines, the defendant must serve 75% of his sentence.

On May 2, 2017, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding narcotics distribution at an apartment in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Upon arrival, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office spoke with Castro who provided consent to search the residence and inside they located multiple pounds of heroin which Castro admitted were his.

This case was investigated by members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. This case was prosecuted by Randi Freese of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
