Skillicorn Calls for Madigan’s Resignation, Urges Opponents to Follow Suit

From State Rep. Allen Skillicorn:

All Roads of Corruption Lead To Speaker Michael J. Madigan

Crystal Lake, IL — Speaker Madigan, the longest serving Speaker of a
legislative House in US history, is either neck deep in the least ethical state in the Nation or the only leader I know of who is unaware of and not responsible for anything that happens around him.

Looking at all the evidence, it appears all roads of corruption lead to Speaker Michael J. Madigan.

His Clerk of the House and closest ally, Tim Mapes, was sexually
harassing women and was forced to step down.

His key floor leader, Rep. Lou Lang, was also accused of sexually
harassing woman and had to resign his post.

. Emails have come out linking ComEd to financially supporting another
Madigan’s ally Marty Quinn after he resigned for sexually harassing
women.

How nice of ComEd to do such a favor out of the kindness of their heart for Mr. Quinn when asked by longtime Madigan ally Mike McClain, who was arranging a privileged lobbying list all for Speaker Madigan.

And that’s just what makes the news.

Let’s not forget Madigan’s day job is appealing property taxes for big corporations, raising taxes on the little guys.

Amazing.

All that activity surrounding Madigan, who is not only the Speaker of the Illinois House, but the head of the Illinois Democratic Party.

All those millions of dollars probably blow right by the Speaker too. Because if anyone in Illinois thought for a moment that maybe, just maybe the Speaker is responsible for what happens on his watch, then resignation is not only reasonable to request, it is an imperative.

As the Representative of the 66th District of Illinois, I am calling on Speaker Madigan to resign immediately.

I’m also challenging my political opponents, progressive Republican Carolyn Schofield and the two Democrats, McHenry County Board Member Suzanne Ness and Carpentersville Trustee Jim Malone to do the same.

I have never heard my Republican opponent Schofield publicly call for
Madigan’s resignation.

I have never heard my Democratic challengers
make this demand either.

My final question, what are my opponents waiting for?

Skillicorn Calls for Madigan’s Resignation, Urges Opponents to Follow Suit — 6 Comments

  1. Having read thousands of Illinois corruption storm headlines.

Pardon me if I don’t even open my umbrella.

  2. IMHO, shouldn’t Skillicorn be talking about his accomplishments during his 2 terms as state representative?

And I don’t mean simply his “no” votes against tax/fee increases that passed in spite of his opposition, or “no” to the Red Flag law that passed in spite of his opposition.

And I don’t want to hear about his proposed legislative bills for “reform”, as they did not go anywhere.

This press release from Skillicorn is little more than grandstanding, applying “progressive” to his primary opponent, and only a fool would expect his Democratic opponents to do the same.

And while he’s at it, on his “Capitol Report 2019” that went out by mail last week, why doesn’t he include his support for the recreational cannabis bill that he voted for and it actually passed?

Wouldn’t he want to list a legislative accomplishment of his that he actually worked for and was actually approved to be implemented at the first of the year?

I’ve said it elsewhere, and will say it here, the 66th district seat as at real risk of being flipped and this is the best Skillicorn can do?

  3. Way to go Skillicorn!

That woud be huge progress for the State of Illinois if Madigan would resign!

Skillicorn is right, all roads of Corruption lead to Madigan!

  4. Poor little Mike.

He doesn’t have cell phone and uses humans as messenger pigeons to instruct and upbraid his many, many goons.

  5. Mr. Lopez, your response to Representative Skillicorn only makes me ask a couple of questions and add a couple of comments.

Is there ANYTHING in his article that was wrong regarding Madigan?

Can you speak to the Madigan part of the story instead of shooting the messenger?

    1. This story was about him calling Madigan out to resign. Simple. And yet you assail Skillikorn’s record as if he is inept. His opponent said in announcing her run… “Republicans cannot pass a single bill without Democrat votes. I’ll reach across the aisle to find common ground and build trust.”

That is Rino speak if I have ever heard it and it is continuing to “mission creep” amongst Republicans (& actually – there are some who are Republican in name only).

Skillikorn’s principled stands against Tax Increases & using his bully pulpit to push reforms (despite their going into the ether due to fighting a Democratic Majority).

His adding the “progressive” qualifier to a political opponent is not out of bounds (and is totally appropriate given her past comments and record).

The qualifier is especially important as it highlights the problem in the legislature amongst some Republicans… when taking into consideration some of the Republicans serving in Illinois politics today and their Judas like votes (getting a few financial crumbs for their district and then add their “yes” votes – being deftly used by Madigan for political cover of certain key Democrats… allowing those Dems to vote “No” so their district won’t get flipped.

Sorry for the sentence run on.

By the way, if you don’t want to “hear” about his proposed bills for “reform”…. don’t read about them.

I find his efforts refreshing (even when they fizzle due to the Democratic majority legislative buzz saw in committees), because if all Republicans would do the same – their voice would be louder and the differentiation between them & Democrats would be more obvious.

Quite a few people also questioned Rauner’s efforts against the Legislative Democratic Majority (being too rigid instead of “reaching across the aisle”… despite his Democratic like support for sanctuary policies & I can mention others), and as soon as Pritzker was elected (and with a super majority including a few renegade Republicans)… the Democrats passed a huge cornucopia of tax/fee increases).

So, I’d say to you… we absolutely need Skillikorn in this job (as his record demonstrates he actually IS representing the majority of his constituents).

And his Marijuana vote showed he also is able to reach across the aisle (I can think of worse things to compromise on… such as taxpayer funded Abortions & draconian Tax Increases.

As for the 66th district being in danger of being flipped, that is a curious statement.

Please tell me which Democrat stands a chance of winning the district (I suspect you slyly mean his Rino opponent… which would definitely put a win for Madigan in the 66th district as she is less principled).

But if you think the Democrats can pull it off, I’d love to see the rational & breakdown of how that will happen.

And since you are now writing articles for Cal’s site – you have our own bully pulpit ad can make that happen.
