Casten’s Address on the House Floor and Challengers’ Responses

During yesterday’s House floor debate, Congressman Sean Casten addressed his colleagues:

Casten’s two Republican challengers weighed in on yesterday’s two votes to support the Articles of Impeachment:

“Sean Casten has spent his time in office on crusades against the 2016 election results, the Industrial Revolution, religious liberty, private health insurance, and general decency.

“He is a representative of the most extreme elements of the House Democratic Caucus rather than the people who sent him to DC to represent their interests.

“Today, Sean Casten voted to take away your vote. In 2020, take away his vote in Congress. The 6th District doesn’t need to be ruled. We need to be represented.”

“The left-wing socialist Sean Casten and his colleagues in Congress have unfairly impeached the President. This process has been a sham from the get-go and the American people are seeing it for what it is.

POSTSCRIPT: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s glare at members of the Democratic caucus (see pic at top) was written about in Newsweek:

Blink and you might miss it, but the House speaker could be seen shooting lawmakers a withering look before gesturing for them to stop clapping in the seconds after she announced the adoption of the first article of impeachment against Trump.

IL-06: Reactions to Sean Casten’s Impeachment Votes — 11 Comments

  1. On same the day John Lopez wrote that a Trump tweet showed, “Submitting to God and asking for Prayers shows President Trump Knows Who’s Really in Control”

Yeah Lopez. Later that same day Trump said the following: “I gave him everything. I don’t want anything. I don’t need anything for anything,” Trump said. “She calls me up: ‘It’s the nicest thing that’s ever happened. Thank you so much. John would be so thrilled. He’s looking down. He’d be so thrilled. Thank you so much, sir.’ I said, ‘That’s OK, don’t worry about it.’

“Maybe he’s looking up, I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe,” Trump said

Lopez – “Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them… I will surely hear their cry, And my wrath shall wax hot…”
    – Exodus 22: 22-24

******Let’s be clear – the ONLY reason he says such vile things is because his supporters enable him and he thinks (knows) he supporters love it******

I cannot imagine the shame one must feel claiming that he’s a religious man who “knows who’s really in control”

  2. I can’t imagine how anyone can support Trump’s behavior.

I’m not religious and even i think comparing him to Jesus is sacrilegious.

  3. What an absolute dope. This is the guy who cavalierly said that the taking of a life of a fetus, a human being, in an abortion was equivalent to a gall bladder operation. He is a moron for taking this position and those who voted for him are low information fools. They in essence are “Useful Idiots” for the Democrat Party, a number of whose members endorse killing of infants in the womb including after the womb and at birth. The Democrat Party for condoning and endorsing this by their members are absolutely Evil. A scourge to “civilized” society. Are these people monsters?

Christianity Today: Trump Should Be Removed from Office

Unfortunately, the words that we applied to Mr. Clinton 20 years ago apply almost perfectly to our current president. Whether Mr. Trump should be removed from office by the Senate or by popular vote next election—that is a matter of prudential judgment. That he should be removed, we believe, is not a matter of partisan loyalties but loyalty to the Creator of the Ten Commandments.

So we have done our best to give evangelical Trump supporters their due, to try to understand their point of view, to see the prudential nature of so many political decisions they have made regarding Mr. Trump. To use an old cliché, it’s time to call a spade a spade, to say that no matter how many hands we win in this political poker game, we are playing with a stacked deck of gross immorality and ethical incompetence. And just when we think it’s time to push all our chips to the center of the table, that’s when the whole game will come crashing down. It will crash down on the reputation of evangelical religion and on the world’s understanding of the gospel. And it will come crashing down on a nation of men and women whose welfare is also our concern.

  5. I saw that Billy Graham’s publication has called for trump’s removal.

We can only see how John responds to this endorsement of trump’s removal.

  6. “Oh on”, you and your supporters of the Democrat Party, who are represented by grand liars such as Schiff, are pathetic. You people are apparently too stupid to realize you have been and are being conned. Just as you likely were conned by Obama to vote for him twice. He who was the worst ever president of the U.S. with numerous instances of stupidity, incompetence corruption and lies. Stupidity and incompetence are hallmarks of Democrat mis-leadership in the U.S.

  7. “Bred on”

Is Christianity Today “too stupid” to realize that they are being conned?

  8. Tom, you are lamer!

“Christianity Today released an editorial stating that President Trump should be removed from office—and they invoked my father’s name (I suppose to try to bring legitimacy to their statements), so I feel it is important for me to respond.

“Yes, my father Billy Graham founded Christianity Today; but no, he would not agree with their opinion piece

“In fact, he would be very disappointed.

“I have not previously shared who my father voted for in the past election, but because of this article, I feel it is necessary to share it now.

“My father knew Donald Trump, he believed in Donald Trump, and he voted for Donald Trump.

“He believed that Donald J. Trump was the man for this hour in history for our nation.”
