MCC Takes Additional Proactive Steps for Student, Employee Health

[March 12, 2020.Crystal Lake, IL] McHenry County College (MCC) is taking additional proactive steps to administer social distancing practices, as encouraged by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). MCC will continue to work with public health officials and follow recommendations provided by the McHenry County Department of Health, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the CDC. This continues to be an evolving situation, and the College is doing its part to limit the spread and minimize risk. The following measures will be instituted immediately and will impact students, employees, and community visitors.

All MCC classes (in person and online) are cancelled for Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17.

During these two days, the College will be open, and all employees will report to work, available for any student who wishes to arrange for one-on-one assistance.

MCC will extend its Spring Break to begin on Wednesday, March 18 and continue its break through Sunday, March 29.

This means that no classes (in person and online) will be held during this timeframe, providing our faculty and staff time to transition to full online delivery of classes after Spring Break.

While the College will be completely closed during this extended Spring Break timeframe, critical administration and staff will still be doing essential campus work remotely.

All classes will resume on Monday, March 30 and will be conducted in an online format only.

Classes are expected to remain online through the remainder of the spring semester.

To prepare for a seamless transition to this online format, additional training is available for both students and faculty.

While students will be attending class online, the College will remain open, continuing daily operations, and employees will continue their regular work schedules.
