A commenter wrote under a Cofid-19 article that a friend who worked in a health care setting told him/her that the Illinois Department of Public Health had issued instructions with an expanded reporting requirement, retroactive to last winter.
The response to my Freedom of Information request follows:
This email is in regards to your recent Freedom of Information Act request for a copy of new instructions sent recently to health providers concerning the reporting of Covid-19 that require people who were treated for colds and influenza since the start of last winter now to be reported to the state and feds as CV cases.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has no documentation of guidance sent out to providers with new instructions requiring people who were treated for colds and influenza since the start of last winter now to be reported to the state and feds as CV cases.
Would they retroactively add the numbers to the months that these cold cases occurred or pin it on the next upcoming month?
1. Who was the commenter?
2. Just because the IDPH says there isn’t a written directive doesn’t mean there wasn’t any such thing.
Cal, when you use words like ‘new’ and ‘recent’ and ‘providers’ you allow some dingbat too much wiggle room to make things up and interpret.
Just ask for all guidelines, orders a directives issued by the IDPH concerning the reporting of COVID 19 issued since May, 2019.
There have been some studies in Washington state where they were trying to look for early cases, before the first known ones and I believe they found a few.
I’m going to guess it was a similar study and as it gets passed around on Twitter, this is what it turns into.
Hospitals and health care systems are paranoid about losing funding, medicare patients etc…
They bend over backwards to be accurate with their records and other documents that are constantly being audited.
Not saying there aren’t crooks out there but I’d say most are very very careful.
CP is in dreamland. I’ve worked 25 years at large Hospitals.
Everything is CYA
CP, are you serious?
Or sarcastic?
