Commenter “Priest” offers the following on the role of government:

I believe it was during the library expansion conversation Steve pointed out the folks serving on the various Boards(library, park district, health department….) were supposed to be the representative voice of the Taxpayer, but rather were their pet projects most vocal cheerleaders.

We expect the Fauci’s of our society to take the most medically defensive position.

This is why broader government exists.

Health is not a society’s sole priority or interest.

Those who think Fauci and the words which drip from his lips should be followed to the letter are ignorant at best.

The USA is one of the most complex and intertwined societies in human history.

To expect one lever of governance to be the sole voice of need and reason in any circumstance in our country is wildly stupid.

Liberals love slavery.

Liberals have nearly fully bamboozled the black vote into abject eternal slavery and are hungry for more control.

Never waste a good crisis.

This pandemic is a soft threat which should be treated as seriously as our debt bubble, a nuclear Iran/North Korea or any number of other threats.

This is not the only threat.

The other complication for Liberal wanna be slave masters is we live in a free society where, unfortunately for their authoritarian desires, government may really only offer suggested parameters.

We don’t allow our government unlimited power to order us toward self destruction.

That is the purview of dictatorships, not republics.

Businesses couldn’t care less about Pritzker at this point.

If it’s the death of their dreams, starvation of their families or disobeying unconstitutional orders from a loser wanna be plantation owner folks are just going to tune Pritzker out.

I have yet to meet the Brownshirt willing to show up to actively destroy people’s lives and livelihoods.

Fat boy has a problem within the ranks.

His orders to destroy The People must be enforced or he is just a toothless goof with no impulse control.

Since the enforcers like living in a free society with friendly neighbors rather than a slave camp I guess idiot Liberals are just going to have to resign themselves to whining even more than they already do.

Balance must be maintained.

The consequences of long term imbalance because liberals don’t like the chaotic lack of government control a Free Society engenders is unthinkable.
