  1. I feel we’re legit.

If you’re wondering if we’ve been tax accountants in a previous life, no.

There are several factors which make Johnsburg D12 unique.

    1) It’s arguably the largest employer in Johnsburg,

    2) D12 is one of the largest land owners in the Johnsburg area owning a total of 215 acres,

    3) the averaged teacher’s salary is $62,389. The averaged salary of Johnsburg residents is $52,348.

    4) the School Board has forecasted the enrollment will drop in each of the upcoming three years. After completing a $41 million renovation and acquiring 119 acres of farmland for “projected growth”, D12 is overprepared for the future.

Fred Haller and I want to see the tax levy kept flat in the near future.

The School Board has a vision for D12 which doesn’t work for all of the Johnsburg area.

20% of the area adults are seniors, 26% of the students are at poverty level.

Does D12 exist for the residents, or do the residents exist for it?

We spend approximately $14,492 per student annually.

It’s time to “Tap the Brakes” and halt the creep of increasing property taxes!

Exactly how do we do that?

I remember watching a Bears game in the late 1980s when Mike Ditka was coach.

Mike Tomczak was quarterback and it was 4th quarter and the Bears had blown a lead.

Ditka threw a fit on the sidelines and started calling the plays himself.

The Bears worked their way down the field and won the game.

After the game, the Coach said “We had to get back to the basics”.

    It’s the same with D12.

Nobody wants to lessen the value of the education the District offers.

The State isn’t living up to it’s financial commitments, the money has to come from somewhere!

Here’s our idea, let’s stop acquiring, and start “inquiring” meaning working with concepts such as having all new D12 hires live in district.

Our tax dollars will be recycled into the community, especially by those hires paying property taxes.

Let’s work with social media platforms and cell phone carriers to pay into the local school systems, face it, these are major components of a young person’s life, why shouldn’t they contribute to the local school district when the student’s attention is in competition with these platforms?

Let’s work with State Legislators to update the tax codes in Illinois to raise the Senior Property Tax Freeze to $100,000. a year as it is in Cook County, since family dynamics have changed, and many seniors have younger family members living with them. Of course this is just a start, but in four years is “a start” better than losing more residents?

  2. Ok, thanks.

I gave my mom and sister a note to vote for you two only.

  3. The Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading Standards go into effect in 2025.

One of the main reasons we want to be on the D12 School Board is to reinforce every valid value that will counteract these guidelines leading up to 2025.

We believe that we will have a Republican governor in 2023,and we’re hopeful that legislation will be introduced at that time to drop these guidelines.

Our belief is that these guidelines will alienate students from their parents, in fact, will culturally “replace” a student’s parents with government.

One of the things we feel is that the present Board is willing to accept these standards as part of an ever evolving improvement in academia, when in reality it’s a direct political move to control the minds of our students.

Residents of D12 don’t need the government to tell them to be understanding of a student’s sexual orientation or racial ethnicity, their family values already reflect that.

To redesign an entire functioning school district to over accommodate the few at the expense of the many is the tail wagging the dog.

  4. I don’t believe he has a position on curriculum.

He said on his Facebook page he hadn’t looked at curriculum in over a “decade” – his words.

Definitely not who I want representing my children in the board room!

  5. Claud Henry Smoot – I have a position on context –

“My daughter and son (as well as a niece and nephew) attended the Johnsburg schools.

I’m anxious to review the present curriculum since it’s been at least a decade since I’ve been familiar with it.

“I have had concerns raised about the weighted grading system at the high school which is something I would like to find out more about.”

This is quoted from the reply you’re referring to.

My daughter graduated from JHS in 2010.

I believe someone should take a forensic look at the curriculum being offered before offering an opinion, things evolve quickly in academia today!
