Vicky Smith
The McHenry County College Board members who lost and retired left office last night, but not before two (the two who lost their elections) did their best to reward not quite three-year President Vicky Smith for her efforts.

The old Board majority (with Ron Parrish and Dennis Adams in the minority) want to extend Smith’s contract and raise her salary.
They achieved half of that goal.
The contract was extended through June30, 2015.
But they didn’t get to raise her salary.
That question will be up to the newly reconstituted Board.
To start that discussion, I asked for the current salary of Smith.
MCC told me it is $204,867.
I don’t know if that makes her the highest paid public official in McHenry County, but it might.
If anyone finds a school superintendent with a higher salary, please tell readers in the comment section.
I wonder if Miss Vicky would love MCC as much as she claims in her full page ad in the Northwest Herald if the salary was $35,000 a year?

Several local school superintendents in Mchenry County earn more than Dr. Smith.
These superintendents tend to be in the larger consolidated districts.
It is all public record.

Perhaps she could start spending her own money instead of asking the taxpayers for more if she loves MCC so much.
As a previous poster stated would she love MCC as much if making $35,000 instead of $204,000, very well put.
No she is not like us.
She will not give us her money but she wants more of ours.
Instead of extending her contract ,if they had any guts at all they would have ripped up her contract now and looked for a replacement.
However much money it would cost to get her out would be money well spent and a savings in the long run.
By the way, kudos to Ron Parrish for continually having the guts to stand up to the bs from the board over the last year or so.
I was hoping someone else would do the research.
Its the biggest problem we have here in America – so much research to do – so few people willing to do it.
I simply do not have the time to answer the question Cal – things are getting spicy in the 708.
