GOP Presidential Debate Room in Crystal Lake Packed

Republicans gathered at The Cottage at Crystal Lake’s five corners to watch the first Presidential Debate.

The Republican organizers planned to serve 12 pizzas at The Cottage party to watch the first Presidential debate.

The campaigns who paid for the pizza were those of State Senate candidate Karen McConnaughay and State Rep. Mike Tryon.

When I left about twenty of nine to write this story, thirty-nine thin crusted pizzas had been ordered.

One needed sharp elbows to make one’s way into the back room at The Cottage.

The place was packed.

People were packed chock-a-block into the room.

People were leaving because there was standing room only.

Sheriff’s candidate Bill Prim (on the left) was near the patio door from whose doorway this shot was taken.

Before the debate began, people were spilling out onto the patio.

I noticed that President Barack Obama was not smiling as much as was Mitt Romney.

Good thing the rain had ended.

There were TVs at various points around the room.

Undoubtedly others will disagree with my observation that President Obama was not as comfortable talking off the cuff as he is with a telaprompter.

  1. Good to see you Mr. Prim with the McHenry County Republicans, I see Andy the clown wasn’t around, he only attends events that are easy vote getting events.

Bill the true Republican for Sheriff

  2. “Undoubtedly others will disagree with my observation that President Obama was not as comfortable talking off the cuff as he is with a telaprompter.”

They would be better off blaming lack of teleprompter than lack of subject matter knowledge.
