McHenry County Taxpayers Hit for Almost $21,600 for Jack Franks’ Family Health Insurance

Jack Franks

$23,969.64, to be exact.

Correction – Franks pays $3,349,95 of the total premium cost, so the total subsity is $20,619.69.

That covers at least three members of his family.

Because Franks is not receiving his legislative pension, he could have opted to receive state insurance, as did former State Senator Pam Althoff when she began receiving her legislative pension.

But, Franks did not.

He decided to force McHenry County taxpayers, instead of State of Illinois taxpayers, to finance his and his family’s health benefits.

State government wins because it does not have to pay for Franks’ insurance and, as a reward, gives Franks $150 per month for his opting out of state health coverage.

McHenry County Taxpayers Hit for Almost $21,600 for Jack Franks’ Family Health Insurance — 24 Comments

  1. And he bills the taxpayers for his mileage!

And the taxpayers pay the salary and benefits of the person who files his campaign fund.

And he gave himself a raise while in office – county salary shows that the taxpayers are paying half of his Health Care Savings account to the tune of $2,500 – Is this not an additional benefit added for County employees since he was elected?

If so, is he not breaking another law?

Was his compensation not ‘set’ before his election?

Franks is nothing but a leech sucking on the taxpayer teat!

    Oh!

    And he lies!

    And he is a bully!

All three of his underlings (Austin, Craver, Geenen) are receiving $2,500 from the taxpayers for their HSAs.

No other County Board member is being shown to receive any benefit for their HSA.

  2. LOL it’s not even 7 and Joe Tirio is bashing Jack on the blog.

    What a loser

  3. Is this the gross number or the net?

That’s the [unusually high] cost to provide it.

Does Frank contribute any towards that cost, as nearly every non-government employee does?

  4. Two things:

    1. Front Page – get a life. Your hate for the Tirios drips from your every word.

    2. To be fair, also note that County Board member Skala appears to have the highest cost to the taxpayers Healthcare benefit at the County – $27,583.68

BUT he does not participate in the HSA taxpayer gouging program.

In addition I am told even though he owns a money making business, neither he or his employees receive any compensation for health care.

  5. Joe,
    I just think it’s funny.

Before you have your coffee, you bash Jack – but I’m the one that needs to get a life?!?!

    LOL!

  6. Instead of bitching about your lying and manipulating Pols.

I wish voters would start lying and manipulating Pols.

  7. If the voters of McHenry County re-elect Jack……..be prepared to pay more!

If you really know what has been done with regard to local taxes, you must know that they have continued to escalate during Jack’s entire tenure.

He, his family and patronage buddies are doing very well.

  8. Interesting about “employee’s” not receiving any compensation for health care when its the LAW unless he is breaking the law? he must come up with a portion of what health care cost is, there is a set amount for businesses.

Or are these people just 1099 workers, real short part timers, illegals?

need more facts before making judgement.

The amounts reported are an estimate of what the employee will earn.

Not a historical archive of what the employee did earn.

For historical results submit a FOIA request.

Open the Books reports pensionable income, but not the healthcare and other benefits.

The Better Government Association pay database also reports pay.

  10. Care to tell the class how much the State of Illinois has paid in the last 20 years for your family’s health care, Cal?

You’ve performed no actual work for the state in nearly 20 years, and yet we have to pay for your health care.

    Pot, meet kettle.

  11. On another note about obscene taxes in this rotten state of Illinois, regular unleaded gas in Kentucky, $2.13 at my fillup in Paduca Ky yesterday, $2.85 at my fillup today in wunberbar McHenry County.

Btw, Kentucky has real nice smooth roads.

  12. Has anyone submitted a FOIA request to the State to confirm Mr. Franks is receiving money from the State for not taking the State’s retiree healthcare?

Or did he volunteer that information?

Wonder the total amount for all retirees for one year that are receiving the perk from the state.

And the number of retirees receiving the perk from the state.

The number because presumably there is more than one opt in date per year, so simple division would not give that answer.

Have never heard of a private sector organization offering such a perk (paying someone to not receive retiree healthcare).

  13. What does it take to get the people to wake about Jack Franks and his shenanigans?

It would solve a lot of problems, not only in McHenry County but the entire State of Illinois, if Jack Franks would just go away.

  14. Companies were paying people not to take their health beneifts as far back as the 1980’s.

  15. Cal, thats wrong too.

Franks made a choice, at the expense of the McHenry County tax payer.

    And, he pocketed more money.

If Franks had any integrity,he would accept the State Insurance and refuse the insurance paid by McHenry County.

Instead, he gets paid $150.00 per month by the State for accepting County Insurance.

    Shame on you Jack Franks!

TIME FOR JACK FRANKS TO MARCH OUT OF TOWN!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE LAUREN UNDERWOOD WITH YOU!

  16. Jack Frank’s is your blood boiling over the people being hired in the coroners office without the jobs beings being posted?

EEOC will figure it out ….CREDENTIALS DONT MATTER

  17. Jack Franks’ kids are spoiled to be sure.

The apples don’t fall far fro the tree.

Dad tries to keep their credit card sprees down to no more than $7K per mo.

But they so entitled === just like Daddy of the double chin.

  18. Well it’s the stupid lazy voters who time and again vote for the wrong person.

  19. Integrity and Franks should never be in the same sentence unless you’re talking about the dark money defamation antics of the IL Integrity Fund.
    Such an ironic name
