Tribune Seeks 4 Years of McHenry County Jail Booking Data

McHenry County Jail

In addition to asking for the type of traffic stop data requested in former McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Zane Seipler’s wrongful termination case, Chicago Tribune reporter Joe Mahr wants to know three years of data concerning the booking of all inmates in the McHenry County Jail for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

He has filed a Freedom of Information request asking for such information, the contents of which appear below:

Here is his request:

Electronic records that denote basic information on every booking of every inmate booked into the McHenry County Jail, from Jan. 1, 2007, through Dec. 31, 2010. The basic information should include, but may not be limited to:

Day room in the McHenry County Jail.

  • Inmate name
  • Master ID
  • Birth date (or, in the alternative, birth year)
  • Sex
  • Race
  • Nationality
  • Language
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Eye Color
  • Hair Color
  • Complexion
  • Booking Number
  • Charge
  • Sequence
  • Charge Description
  • Type of Charge (such as criminal or traffic)
  • Offense Date/ Time
  • Release Date
  • Release Status (such as released on bond, to custody of IDOC, or to custody of ICE)

We understand the department has booking system that captures this data electronically and can export this data electronically. For some electronic jail systems (such as the Illinois Department of Correction’s) there are two databases – one listing inmate biographical information and the other listing crime information. For other electronic jail systems, one database lists it all.

We can accept the data in whatever way your system keeps it.

We are seeking this data exported in a commonly accepted, text-based format, such as delimited, fixed-width, Excel, D-base, or Access.

This request also includes a copy of any file layout, or schema, of the provided records, to explain what fields of data are provided, and in what format.

More tomorrow.

  1. I wonder what type of bait they’re using for this fishing trip, and how much it’s going to cost the taxpayers to supply the information requested?

Does the request also include all the Federal, other county, and ICE detainees that are booked in and out of the jail daily?

I still think Joe McCarthy has returned-say it often enough and loud enough, and SOMEONE is going to believe it, until the fool is proven to be a fool, and his followers slink back into the shadows so the rest of us will stop laughing at them.

  2. Thank God someone is doing a proper investigation on the sheriff.

Lord knows Lou won’t and for what ever reason the AG won’t and FBI dropped the ball, I quess a little sheriff in rural Illinois isn’t enough to build a career on.

Even the BGA, who is suppose to watch out for us, left the Pagano investigation when the election was over.

Nobody happier than me that someone is finally looking into the goings on in the sheriff’s department.

Hey AZSupporter remember he who laughs last laughs best.
