A press release from the Crystal Lake Police:
Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse
Pursuant to an allegation of inappropriate conduct with a juvenile, the Crystal Lake Police Department initiated an investigation regarding Michael A. Petersen, a 35 year old male from 1390 Fair Oaks Avenue Crystal Lake, IL.
The Illinois Department of Children & Family Services alerted the Crystal Lake Police of the complaint after receiving a call from a mandated reporter.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Michael Petersen allegedly had engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a person whom was under 13 years of age.
The alleged incidents occurred on or about September 2011 thru December of 2012. It is believed at this time that no other victims exist.
This investigation culminated on Friday, December 14, 2012, when an arrest warrant was issued and Michael Petersen was arrested without incident at his parents’ home in Huntley, Illinois.
He was charged with
- two (2) counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony) and
- one (1) count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child (Class 3 Felony).
He was transported to the McHenry County Jail, with bond being set at $100,000.
The next court date is scheduled for January, 4, 2013 at 9 am.
Crystal Lake Police advise as a reminder; that while persons are arrested and charged with offenses, they are to be considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
I wonder what happened to make it Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse instead of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault.

I would think that would be child abuse versus child assault.
Is there any such thing as child assault in the law?
The legal terminology is very precise and important.
Assault is more severe than abuse thus carriers stiffer sentencing options.
My ex. Michael petersen is the kind of guy that always try to act like he was the innocent one. Michael doesn’t have an innocent bone in his body.. Now ponder on that thought. He is a disgrace to men. Mark your right. He is a scumbag.
