Arbor Day Memories

Today is Arbor Day,

When I was a Cub Scout around 1950, our Den planted a sapling in front of the library in Easton, Maryland.

Original Public Library in Easton, Maryland.

The Public Library was right next to the Courthouse.

When our family visited our hometown in about 2006 I expected to see a huge tree.

But there was no tree in the spot we Cubs celebratee Arbor Day.

What a disappointment.

  1. I’ve must have driven 50 through Easton a hundred times from BWI, to my OC Condo and I can’t remember a single thing about it.

Salisbury yes, unremarkable but I rented storage there for fifteen years explains the why.

  2. You should have gone downtown.

When my father was President of the Town Council, the decision was made to keep modern facades off the street in front of the Library and Courthouse.

    McClory’s Five and Dime complied.

Somrething like a living Willaiamsburg, except a lot of the old stores were bars the last time I was there.
