Congressman Peter Roskam represents the 6th Congressional District.
The state Republican Party is governed by one State Central Committeeman from each congressional district.
These State Central Committeemen are elected by precinct committeemen after county and township (in Cook County) parties hold their biennial meetings. These meetings are Wednesday.
In McHenry County, the confab will be held at 7:30 at d’Angela’s southeast of the intersection of Routes 31 and 14. All previous meetings have been open to the public and there is no reason to believe Wednesday’s won’t be also.
One candidate for the 6th District position attended the Algonquin Township Republican Central Committee meeting at the meeting room in the Algonquin Township District garage complex.
His name is Brian Colgan. He currently works for U.S. Senator Mark Kirk and previously was employed by Congresswoman Judy Biggert.
He was given an opportunity to speak.
“I want to focus on campaigning,” he said, pointing out that he had ten years of experience.
“The message is extremely important,” he stressed, as is getting out the vote (GOTV).
“I can help us unite.
“We need to come together and focus on electing Republicans.
“I’m going to keep showing up,” Colgan pledged, as he left to try to make the Dundee Township Republican Central Committee meeting, which has started an hour before his departure time.
