McConnaughay Reports on Springfield

From State Senator Karen McConnaughay:

Last week I was proud to pass a piece of legislation in the Senate that honors the legacy of transparency that the late Judy Baar Topinka left on the State of Illinois.

Senate Bill 903 ensures that “Online Ledger” and “The Warehouse,” resources Judy spearheaded as Comptroller to increase transparency in government and local finances, will continue to be available to taxpayers.

Also last week, I was happy to welcome the Youth Advisory Committee Representative Tryon and I work with to the State Capitol. Meeting with these bright high school students was one of the highlights of my week! Watch the video below to see what they thought of their time in Springfield.

As the spring legislative session continues, your input continues to be vital to the work I do. Please contact me or my office with questions or concerns you may have, and make sure your voice is heard in Springfield! You can also visit my legislative website at http://senatormcconnaughay.com/.

The Illinois Senate has passed legislation sponsored by State Sen. Karen McConnaughay (R-St. Charles) that codifies transparency initiatives introduced by the late Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka.

  1. Joe Gottemoller would do all citizens a service by looking at the Comptroller’s website.

His reference to over 300 possible taxing entities during his comments at a Board meeting was quite ingenuous.

Based on the Comptroller’s website, McHenry County has 104 units of government.

It would also appear that he is attempting to refer to the County Conservation District as an separate taxing body.

The District’s budget is subject to approval by the County Board.

If the Board really wants to do its job, it would remove all monies from the MCCD budget relative to its police force and other useless expenditures!!

  2. The Conservation District is a separate governmental entity approved by referendum.

I’ll grant that the County Board could exercise more power over its budget.
