Rather than INCREASE sales tax, like Chicago and Todd Stroger’s COOK County (many call it “Crook County”), how about WE FIND THE COURAGE TO REDUCE SALES TAX! Then, go one better…work with the Chambers and EDCs (they do have a purpose, don’t they?) ADVERTISE that out of RESPECT for peoples’ financial plight, we INVITE THEM to shop McHenry County, and get all those Mt. Prospect, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Schaumburg, Rolling Meadows and Barrington shoppers with a Todd Stroger CHIP on their shoulders to come 15 – 20 miles NW to McHenry County?
Now THAT’s a strategy to COMPETE like REAL AMERICANS and WIN; not toss our hands up in defeat, like cowards, by raising taxes.
