Cliff Surges Sends Out First Mailing for State Senate

Cliff Surges is running for State Senate in the 33rd District. His opponent is Kane County Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay. Surges served a term as Gilberts Village Trustee a decade ago.

Surges’ mailing is the first from either candidate, to the best of my knowledge. It arrived in Crystal Lake last Friday.

"Enough is Enough" is the slogan on the first mailling of State Senate candidate Cliff Surges.

“Enough is Enough,” is the slogan on the address side of an enlarged post card. Surges photo appears along with the office he seeks, that he is a Republican and his web site’s title, cliffsurges.com.

On the back is a photo of Surges and his wife of 21 years, Audrey. He has three children, but they are not in the photo.

The back side of Cliff Surges' first mailing promoting his candidacy for State Senate.

Running along the top of this side is the headline, “Fresh Leadership for Illinois.”

“We need fresh leadership in Illinois,” a message below the photo starts. “I’m not a career politician. I’m running to make your voice heard. Illinois faces serious challenges, and until we address them we will continue losing jobs and increasing on us the tax payers.”

Surges’ bio is summarized on the right hand side of the piece:

  • Graduate of St. Charles East High School
  • Eastern Illinois University Alumni
  • Award Winning Small Business Owner
  • Chamber of Commerce Board Member
  • Gilberts Village Trustee (97-01)
  • Jacobs High School Booster Club President
  • Youth Sports Coach for 25 years
  • National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors Member
  • Active member of Immanuel Lutheran Chruch

  1. We don’t need more fine men, we need a
    Senator with real leadership. McConnaughay

  2. His opponent is under the microscope for the hundreds of publicly recorded very large donations taken over the years in Kane County which provide links to county vendors and contracts.

Does she intend to collect a second pension at taxpayers expense? At no point has she pledged not to take a double dip or even discussed the issue. Still unanswered is the question of using this seat and voted to move quickly to higher office.

Cliff Surges would be a great senator. His agenda is clear and his agenda straightforward.

  3. I am voting for Cliff- he has a spine and is a small businessman.

He knows what we as citizens need right now- unlike Karen who is a career politician with roots in Pay to Play business.

I respect her but I do not trust her or her ideas.

I know Cliff has our best interest in mind because he is just like you and myself.

I am voting for CLIFF SURGES!

  4. Seems like Cliff has a problem paying his taxes.

This is not a mudslinging attempt by McConnaughay, he came out and admitted it.

Also it wasn’t just once or twice, Its been his business plan for the last 9 year!
and he’s quoted that he does see anything wrong with it.

I realize alot of people are having problems with paying their taxed during this tough economic time, but this was part of his plan.

Don’t believe me. Read the story in the Daily Herald.
