The Next Attack on the McHenry County Board

The McHenry County Board’s Management Services Committee is on deck today to follow in the footsteps of Human Resources Committee.

On June 2nd, all Human Resources Committee members voted in favor of abolishing pensions for County Board members.

Now it is the Management Services’ turn.

Naive folks might think that will end the attack on McHenry County Board members.

After all, the County Board lowered its tax take this year and is in the process of getting rid of pensions for its part-time and full-time members (the Chairman).

What more could one ask?

At the June 2nd meeting of Human Resources, Wonder Lake Republican Precinct Committeeman put it quite succinctly:

McHenry County Board members are eligible for health insurance benefits paid for by taxpayers.

Elected officials should not receive health benefits for part-time positions.

Please look into this issue and see what could be done to remove  health insurance benefits from board members.

This table shows what County Board members were paid for 11 months, in Fiscal Year 2015 with the last month estimated to yield the whole year.

You can bet that Jack Franks will pound on this issue during his campaign against Mike Walkup for the County Board Chairmanship.

  1. Where is the same chart for Jack Franks and the rest of the Illinois General Assembly (state representatives and state senators).

  2. “Elected officials should not receive health benefits for part-time positions.”

Such as the author of this blog.

  3. Jack Franks run for two elected offices brings serious concern regarding state legislators being full time positions.

If Jackie has the time to hold two elected positions, it stands to reason that neither position is full time.

We should not allow state legislators pensions or health care since, clearly, Jack Franks is making the point that State Lgislators do not occupy full time positions.

Jackie, if he is serious about his fight to eliminate pensions for part time elcted positions, should lead the way by not accepting his pension, and demanding that all other state legislators give up their pensions as well.
