Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, regretfully announces that, effective August 4, 2016, Donna Kathryn Kelly will be resigning from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Ms. Kelly started her dedicated career with our office in August of 2005 as an assistant state’s attorney, successfully prosecuting numerous felonies and advancing to supervising ASA in October, 2008.

After taking a brief hiatus from our office to join a private practice in October, 2009, Donna returned to the position of Chief of the Civil Division in July, 2011, and was named First Assistant State’s Attorney in February, 2015.

Her high level of legal skill, professionalism and ethics will be greatly missed by this office.

A formal announcement regarding Ms. Kelly’s successor will be made next week.

Kelly pretty much stunted the McHenry County Republican Establishment in 2010 by getting 46% of the vote against Mary Schostok.

Kelly carried McHenry County 11,751 to 10,198–53.5% of the vote, giving her a leg up as a proven vote getter, if she decides to run for a local judgeship.
