State Rep. David McSweeney continues to present good graphics on issues.

This past week, he had this image about red tape:

During the 1970’s when I was in the Illinois House I learned that Illinois had more licensed professions than any other state.

Those in professions seeking licensing say they are to protect consumers, but really such laws are to limit competition by making it difficult to enter the profession.

If consumer protection were the reason, medical technologists would be licensed, because, if they make a mistake, one could die.

In any event, here is what McSweeney has to say:

Illinois is ranked #3 in the country for the number of state regulations We need to reduce unnecessary regulations so that small businesses can create more jobs.
