Financing of GOP Coroner Nomination Quests

The contest to represent the Republican Party on the fall ballot as Coroner is a low budget affair.

Michael Rein

At the end of 2019, former McHenry County Board member Michael Rein had $545.93 in the bank for his GOP Coroner Primary Election campaign against Angela Byrnes and Mark Justen.

Now, he reports having pumped $1,500 of his own money into his campaign.

During the last three months of last year, here are those who contributed $150 or more:

  • James/Dianne Terrell of Harvard – $150
  • Domenic Mennitti of Woodstock – $250
  • Citizens to Elect Patrick Kenneally – $250
  • Lou Anne Majewski of Barrington Hills – $150
  • Kim Keefe of Woodstock – $150
  • Citizens for Colonel Craig Wilcox – $1,000
  • Warren Wolschlager of Crystal Lake -$300

Another $2,600 was in amounts under $150 and not required to be identified by contributor.

He also loaned his campaign $1,500.

Newcomer Angela Byrnes reported having $3,417.58 at the end of 2019.

Contributing more than $150 during the last three months of last year were

  • Dave Byrnes of Crystal Lake’s Ashford Lane – $174.04
  • David Byrnes of Crystal Lake’s Kendallwood Court – $180
  • Michael Clesceri of Cary – $250
  • McHenry’s Colonial Funeral Home – $200
  • Mark Guerra of Cary – $250
  • Basia Herron of Barrington – $250
  • Nursed PAC of Manteno – $250
  • Rhona Vandenberg of Orland Park – $200

An additional $1,976.98 came in amouts under $150.01.

Justen has not filed any paperwork with the Illinois State Board of Elections.

  1. Seems like Crying Mike is his own #1 fan…

Anyone else have a sign put up in their property without permission?

Friend on Bull Valley Rd had one put up on their property without permission.

  2. I wonder how many Brewer signs had permission. they’re littering the landscape.

  3. Rein is my choice.

    Justen would be a disaster.

    Who the hell is Byrnes?

  4. I know, Hopeful Visitor, my husband just pulled out a large ‘Save McHenry Township’ sign off my land. I never gave permission. I wonder if these signs are bought with taxpayer money and set up by government workers!

The damn sign pulled out was really frozen in too. My husband hurt his hand. But I can’t charge the Township.

  5. I know him and I’m voting for Rein, too.

But I’d vote for him even if I knew nothing about him. \

    Mark Justen is that bad!

  6. Ditto 2 posts immediately above this one, and ‘Doom’s’.

  7. Brewer is running to divide the growing anti-McClellan sentiment

  8. Byrnes all the way!

Hands down the most qualified for the office.

    Enough with the insiders already!

In case no one has noticed, our party is dying in McHenry County and the continual perpetuation of the good ole boy network is a reason why.

Everyone says they’re not for it, except when they get into power all they do is look out for their buddies and turn a blind eye to what is right.

Michael doesn’t shake a stick to Byrnes’ experience.

Cracking backs in a one man office is hardly enough experience.

He’s a glorified masseuse for crying out loud.

Besides his college biology class 20 years ago with one cadaver, he couldn’t answer me when the last time he’s dealt with the dead was.

After his failed run for mayor, an office which he turned democrat, he was a do nothing on the board trying to attach his name to other people’s work.

And he somehow managed to turn that seat democrat too!

Seems to me every office he touches turns democrat… and if that isn’t a sign I don’t know what is.

Funny how every major office holder will say in private that they are terrified if he gets elected because he has no idea what the hell he is doing and he isn’t qualified.

Judging by the signs he’s planting without permission he seems awfully desperate for a government paycheck because his business is in the tank.

    Wake up people.

    Byrnes is the most qualified.

    Byrnes is new blood.

I’m done wasting my time with the usuals.

If we don’t wisen up as a party this county will turn blue within the next 10 years.

  9. Should we temp temptation, by making a funeral director the corner for the county?

Do we need the Bryne family in McHenry County government?

Rein’s the right man for the job!

  10. Byrnes should consider getting signs.

I haven’t seen any for her.

I’ve seen a few for Justen and tons for Rein.

  11. Rein is the best choice.

    He’s hardly a crony.

1 term on the county board does not make you a crony.

He also saved millions for the county in their health insurance while on the County Board.

REIN is the CONSERVATIVE and the only one with no conflict.

  12. Out with the cronies

“Funny how every major office holder will say in private that they are terrified if he gets elected because he has no idea what the hell he is doing and he isn’t qualified.”

Is this just hyperbole or do you really know something.

please tell us what you know.

    Who said what?

You tell us why Rein isn’t qualified, but fail to tell us how Byrnes is.

    What is the difference?

  13. Out with the cronies doesn’t really sound like you know what you are talking about?

    How is Rein a crony?

Woodstock is the most Liberal town in the County!

District 5 is the most Liberal County District!

Rein lost Mayor in Woodstock and the town raised sales tax, gas tax, implemented new TIF district which increases costs property tax.

Sager does nothing but tax and Rein would have been a much better Mayor by far!

Last time Angela voted in a primary was as a Democrat!

I heard that she was an ER nurse for only a couple of months but couldn’t hack it!

Her husband is a Sheriff Deputy which could cause conflicts of interest.

Justen has conflicts of interest with his funeral home business.

How long has she had her 4 yr nursing degree?

Heard it hasn’t been very long!

She has little experience at most anything!

Rein has run a business, did good things on the board, been involved in many community, and has much more medical background than the other 2 candidates combined.

Angela can’t even diagnose a patient but at least Dr. Rein can!
