Official announcement from Tuesday announcement cued, Schofield takes questions from media and audience

According to POLITICO Illinois Playbook, McHenry County Board Vice Chair Carolyn Schofield (R, Crystal Lake) will be introduced today as the lieutenant governor running mate of former state Senator Paul Schimpf (R, Waterloo).

According to The Illinoize, the announcement was scheduled at the Raue Center for the Arts in Schofield’s hometown of Crystal Lake.

From POLITICO:

FIRST IN PLAYBOOK: Paul Schimpf, a Republican candidate for governor, has named Carolyn Schofield as his lieutenant governor running mate. Schofield is a McHenry County board member and has run unsuccessfully for state rep. She’s smart on property taxes, government consolidation and mental health issues, which are likely to become a policy challenge in Illinois and across the country. She’s a logical pick by Schimpf, a former state senator who is a pragmatist and was expected to look for those attributes in a running mate. Schofield is also not a bomb-thrower.

“The primary will have a choice in terms of whether voters want outrage or solutions,” said a source close to Schimpf’s campaign.

Schofield is currently serving in her 2nd, non-consecutive elected 4-year term on the McHenry County Board.

She was elected vice chairman by her colleagues when the current County Board was sworn-in back in December of 2020.

Schofield is vacating one of the new District 3 spots on the newly remapped County Board, leaving only one incumbent seeking reelection in the new District 3, where two will be elected in November.

  1. Well, that means Schimpf just gained the 22 Schofield relatives and friends and well-wishers Carol has cultivated.

But lost 4,320 people locally who know her record and past.

  2. Schofield, McHenry County progressive’s favorite “Republican”.

Schofield, who supported taxing retirement, is pretty much acknowledged as a democrat.

She has acknowledged she is pro gun control.

She has acknowledged she is pro-prevailing wage.

She has long had strong support from THE TEACHESRS UNIONS!

She has acknowledged she is pro-abortion.

She has acknowledged she is pro tax hike.

She supported the idea of a proposed tax on retirement income.

All the McHenry County progressives have long supported schofield.

Tells me a lot about Schimpf’s ideals as governor.

    I’ll pass!

  3. Alg Voter, you repeated yourself, twice. When did she ever ‘acknowledge she was pro-Abortion?’

  4. Of course the jew loves her. She’s a RINO BLM worshipper.

    Schimpf sucks too.

  5. Schimpf was ALWAYS the moderate candidate.

I don’t know why you guys didn’t see it.

(Actually I do know it is because the burgerman worships the military, enforcer of globohomo, and Schimpf is a military man.)

He said the Janus decision was wrong.

That should have tipped you off.

But no, the hoo rah hoo rah dupes many a burgerman.

What is surprising is that he didn’t pick a conservative to round out the ticket.

Now there is no doubt he is going for the moderate type of voter.

There is a lane for that, but not a winning lane in the GOP primary, and definitely not if Sullivan and Irvin are in the race spending millions or tens of millions of dollars.

My prediction is that his ceiling is about 1/8 votes in the GOP primary and wouldn’t be surprised if he finished with single digit %.
