As I watched the recent Committee of the Whole meeting, it was hard for me to not notice your lack of decorum during the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Instead of “standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart”, like your fellow Board members, you chose to push your way behind Board Member Kamienski, pushing a chair forcefully out of your way.
Perhaps your coffee that you were so cautiously holding was more important than respecting the flag, as an elected member of the County Board should.
For your reference, I’ve attached a copy of Title 4, United Stated Code, Chapter 1 and a copy of The Pledge of Allegiance, suitable for printing and framing, that you may place at your board desk.
As a citizen of McHenry County, I expect more from an elected Board Member.

I’ve taken more oaths to defend the constitution in uniform and as a civilian than I can remember.
I treat the flag per the code.
But I’m not taking some loyalty oath invented 100 years after independence, turned into a religious declaration 4 years before I was born.
If you say the flag code requires one to stand and recite, I say you’ve missed the first amendment.

In my personal opinion, as one of my County Board Members, I think that she’s done an abysmal job representing the people of the 7th County Board District.
For me, I’m concerned about our public safety now since September 18th, there’s going to be no cash bail, and folks like The Nesses are all about defunding our police and making our communities less safe all for the sake of equity and criminal justice reform.
