“My mother in law lived next to Albie Adams, a township official in McHenry township nesr St. Pat’s.

“This was 30 years ago.

“She had a July 4 cookout snd invited her neighbors, the Adams.

“Albie handed me a German beer he brought over, and we talked.

“He said his township job was the best job he ever had because he hold another full time job simultaneously.

“I was sort of nonplussed by this and asked him what he had to do at the township?

“Did he do it at night?

“Albie laughed and said what he really had to do could be done in one hour.”

  1. Adam’s was spot on and Algonquin Township the modern poster child. Add in protection from the MCSAO and Courts and you’ve got a good thing going.
