The McHenry County Board is set to abolish the County Building Commission tomorrow night.

Good idea.

The Building Commission is a way to get around issuing bonds approved by the voters.

Back when my father was on the County Board he came home one day and told of how the Building Commission was going to borrow money to expand the courthouse.

I reminded him of the big stink he had made when the Building Commission was used to finance the new courthouse.

Dad had argued vociferously that a referendum should have been held.

That was the biggest policy disagreement that we held.
