From the McHenry County State’s Attorney:

TIMOTHY ANDREWS SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR AGGRAVATED VEHICULAR HIJACKING

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Timothy Andrews, 31, of Algonquin, Illinois, was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, a Class X Felony, before the Honorable Sharon Prather.

Under Truth in Sentencing guidelines, Andrews must serve 85% of this sentence.

In addition, Andrews was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Aggravated Assault, this sentence will run concurrent with his sentence on the Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking

On February 6, 2018, Timothy Andrews was involved in a hit and run car accident.

Officers investigating the hit and run received a call regarding a suspicious subject.

When officers responded, they observed Andrews and attempted to make contact with him but Andrews fled.

Officers searched and ultimately found Andrews hiding amongst some trees.

Andrews, armed with a knife, lunged at an Algonquin Police Officer, again fled and unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into a vehicle that was occupied by a father and his two young children.

Andrews then broke a window and entered a car that was occupied by an 83 year old woman.

Andrews attempted to steer the vehicle from the front passenger side of the car; the 83 year old woman appeared to be thrown from the vehicle and Andrews fled in her car.

Andrews ultimately crashed the car in Barrington Hills and was apprehended.

This case was investigated by members of the Algonquin Police Department; Officers from the Barrington Hills Police Department assisted.

This case was prosecuted by Rita Gara of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
