Why Are Kids in School During the Hottest Week of the Year?

I have never understood why school boards put kids in school in August.

They know it is going to be hot.

Kids should going to the beach.

Crystal Lake Main Beach crosswalk.

Sunning themselves on rafts.

Teens on the raft at Gate 13 Beach in Lakewood.

Or playing on one of the Crystal Lake Park District’s ducks.

Crystal Lake’s Main Beach.

Not in classrooms.

  1. We now need to keep kids out of school because of climate change? LOL.

There was no AC when I was in school.

Watch the false flag fires that are created by DEWs to push their agenda of climate change cult.

Only 2 more days until creepy Avelar gets to lick his TV screen for Desanctimonious in MKE.

Who knows he may drive up there and hold a Desanctimonious sign.

  2. Because parents let monsters run their public schools….. maybe I should’ve written pubic schools.

  3. I prepare misbehaving children, slow cooked for several days, after a foie gras style ramming of math problems down their beaks.

School Board just stealing my recipe.

  4. Shorten the year so teachers have more paid time off.
    B
S kids should be in school 10 months with one month off in summer and 4 weeks spread out.

Southern states start in early August the kids don’t melt

  5. We had no AC when I was in school here but it didn’t start in the Fall until the day after Labor Day.

Many states still delay opening until then.

The Today Show just did a piece on AC in schools last week.

  6. And here we go again with another Exclusive to McHenry County Blog by Marc Avelar. Trump Trump Trump Loomer Loomer Loomer. LOFL. Hide behind that firewall Avelar and keep retreating unoriginal thoughts.

Cmon Cal. Dump the ugly little Snowflake.

  7. Another ‘News Flash’ from John Lopez-Gomez. Flush-em Cal.

  8. Yes, what BB said.

Cal is alluding to the fact that students are starting school earlier than they used to, JT.

We used to go back after Labor Day (and we did not have AC).

There is a fixed amount of time off per year.

It’s the prerogative of the district WHEN they start and end summer break, and the dates are always subject of passionate debate.

It might seem reasonable for a district to choose August, which is one of the hottest months, to not be in school.

(Run the AC and it’s expensive; don’t run the AC and students are less productive.)

There are tradeoffs: you can either start later and get out later or start earlier and get out earlier.

It’s not unlike the daylight savings debate or what time in the day you start and end school.

This is all about optimizing time.

He’s not saying global warming is making things hot so people shouldn’t go to school; he’s saying students already are guaranteed time off, so give them time off during August.

Cal is simply advocating a return to the Old Way.

    Right, Cal?

Isn’t that what you are saying?

  9. No problem.

    So-called global warming fraudulent.

We are still in a glacial period of the earth.

Many of us walked to school during heat, extreme cold, rain and thunderstorms.

Were not pansies driven to school.

Would agree that the school year PROPERLY begins after Labor Day.

  10. Might it have something to do with the DEMOCRAT controlled teacher’s unions?

    No, not at all possible.

  11. Dirtned…they won’t shorten the school week because who would watch and feed all those children if school is closed?

If anything, they will raise taxes to pay more overtime and have school 6 days a week so we can watch and feed the world’s kids as they cross the border.

  12. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And in January there could be snow.

Better to let them stay home.

    December?

Well, that’s the Christmas month, and we all know that the kids are not really focusing.

So, let them have off during December.

And, let’s not forget about May.

You know they are thinking of June.

So, why go to school in May?

    Knock it off already.

This coddling and babying the kiddies.

This is how we got where we are.

Christ, now they cancel school the day before what might be 2″ of snow.

    The absurdity never stops.

  13. Many of us walked to school during heat, extreme cold, rain and thunderstorms.

Often in the same day too, dagnabit!

  14. Heard on Chicago radio today that the cost of each student per year is $30,000 in the Chicago school system.

    What a deal.

And the reading comprehension and math skills are miserably low.

  15. Wow….

Climate change is a something that the Kiddos need to understand more about….

It’s up to us as parents/ grandparents to guide them…..

    It’s been happening for a long time….,(50 + yrs)

And now it’s happening more than ever.

Let’s not blame any politicians….. let’s blame ourselves…. so what year was it you decided recycle?

  16. I was saving all my newspapers for Boy Scouts in Woodstock in the late 1970’s.
