So, this book does not mention the assassin being put up by “the Rothschild” family (I’m not saying that is necessarily false because it is possible he was recruited), but I enjoyed very much “Destiny of the Republic” by Candice Miller which is about James Garfield’s assassination.
It switches perspective between James Garfield, his assassin Charles Guiteau (a real wacky guy), and Alexander Graham Bell (who was trying to come up with a machine that could detect where the bullet was lodged).
It also shows the maturation of Vice President Chester Arthur and talks about the New York political machine led by Roscoe Conkling.
Garfield could have survived it sounded like but he died because of poor medical treatment from his doctors.
