Hultgren’s Pro-Life Bills

A press release from Congressman Randy Hultgren:

Hultgren Cosponsors Pro-Life Legislation to Protect Unborn, Young Mothers, Doctors

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren has cosponsored several bills this Congress to protect unborn children and mothers from the pain of abortion, and doctors from being forced to violate their deeply held beliefs.

“Protecting minors from exploitation and traffickers, protecting the unborn from the pain of abortion, and protecting doctors from performing abortions against their deeply held beliefs—this is at the heart of defending the sanctity and dignity of all human life. We must step in when these values are in danger, which is why I support these bills,” said Rep. Hultgren.

“The new generation of pro-life Americans stands opposed to governments and individuals who would threaten the human dignity of others.

“I agree and remain committed to protecting the most vulnerable among us and giving a voice to those who have none.

“We cannot delay in passing these mainstream protections and putting pressure on the President to sign these bills—in many cases supported by majorities of Americans—into law.”

Legislation Rep. Hultgren supports includes:

·         H.R. 803, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, prohibits the transportation a minor child across a state line to obtain an abortion. The bill makes an exception for an abortion necessary to save the life of the minor.

·         H.R. 816, the Life at Conception Act, extends equal protection under the 14th Amendment to human beings at every stage of life, including the unborn. This bill guarantees the right to life everyone, and defines life as beginning at the moment of conception. A majority of Americans believe life begins at conception. Importantly, this bill does not authorize prosecution of any woman for the death of her unborn child.

·         H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, stops abortions after 20 weeks, or five months, based on the child’s ability to feel pain. A November 2014 poll fromQuinnipiac found that 60 percent of Americans support legislation limiting abortions after 20 weeks. Rep. Hultgren previously cosponsored this legislation in the 113th Congress, which passed the House in June 2013 but died in the Senate.

·         H.R. 940, the Health Care Conscience Rights Act, a comprehensive bill that respects the religious freedom of Americans seeking health insurance, as well as the ability of the greater health care community to provide patient care in accordance with deeply-held, reasoned beliefs. Among other provisions, this would protect doctors from being forced to prescribe abortion-inducing drugs.

·         H.R. 217, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, prevents federal tax dollars from going to organizations that perform abortions, such as Planned Parenthood. Rep. Hultgren has consistently held that no American should have to pay for someone else’s abortion.

Hultgren’s Pro-Life Bills — 14 Comments

  1. Great Bill……Lantz should also read this.

She should have buried that little one

  2. All of you who are against choice for the woman should pledge to pay for any unwanted baby from birth to death for medical, education, and care.

A man should not be legislating womens’ health.

Maybe they should make a law that any man that fathers a baby and doesn’t support it should be castrated.

After all you believe in an eye for an eye.

  3. Why insist on banning abortions before 20 weeks?

It is stupid to be a fundamentalist, including about the abortion issue.

I’d rather have federal dollars pay for abortions, rather than pay for their imprisonment as adults.

If the mother does not want that baby, don’t you all think that baby is doomed already?

Or do you yourself have so much love to give?

Can you afford to raise that baby yourself?

Or do you think that the mother can be coerced or otherwise persuaded into loving that baby….

Let’s not be fundamentalists, abortions have been done for centuries.

Hultgren is either being a fundamentalist or playing the political game here.

Either does not reflect well on him.

  4. Amen, what a waste.

Put your energy towards budgets, immigration, taxes and leave abortion to the Supreme Court.

  5. Thank you Congressman Hultgren.

These children are the most innocent of all God’s creations and unlike any other of his creations have been infused with a soul.

I applaud you for supporting their right to be born as it was not their “choice” to be conceived but once conceived it is their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness granted by our United States Constitution and by God.

There are millions of families who would do anything in their power to raise a child and spare him or her from being slaughtered in the womb.

I have heard pro-life speakers that were conceived in rape and ones that survived abortions they are infinitely grateful to their birth mothers for giving them to loving families.

They plead that mothers in their mother’s situations do the same.

The innocent have no voice but ours.

  6. Abortion is a divisive issue, we will never have a universal agreement on this.

Just like catholics, protestants, and jews will never unite in the same church, prolifers and prochoicers will never settle their differences.

This is well understood by rational people, essentially anybody with half a brain still functioning.

This is why it is a shame for Randy Hultgren to keep kindling this fire.

As if all other problems that _are_solvable_ have been solved. This is politicking at its worst.

A naive outside observer would think that the US Congress would be dealing with the major problems, you know, like improving internal governance, foreign trade, the gaping income gap, domestic surveillance, etc.

This country compares negatively with places such as Finland, Sweden, Switzerland.

Coming here from an Asian airport, one may be excused for thinking that American is a third world country.

Instead the US political parties keep arguing about abortion and gay marriage.

  7. Thank you Congressman Hultgren!

You people who are for “choice”, I find it interesting that the choice of the baby or the man is never considered.

I know five women who got abortions back in the 70’s, and NONE of them could conceive when they wanted to, and all five of them say that that abortion ruined their lives.

If they had known the emotional and physical pain they would endure, they never would have had them. Hearing Abby Johnson’s story should convince anyone the clear choice is LIFE.

Abby was the manager of a large abortion clinic in Texas, and when she assisted at an abortion with an ultrasound (so the doctor knew where to guide the suction) she saw the baby pull back, and try to get away from the suction device.

It makes me ill just to type these words.

Thank you again, Congressman, for standing up for the TRUTH and the right thing to do.

  8. Nameless = clueless.

What is shameful, is all of the congressmen/women NOT standing up for these issues.

  9. Sad we have adoption agencies closed down because of sodomites wanting to force them to give them babies.

True marriages a man and a woman unable to conceive and unable to adopt due to abortion mills.

Why is IVF and abortion both commonplace?

Could it be natural law and natural consequences are too much for our fractured society to deal with today.

Every time our leaders say God Bless America or our prayers are with you I want to throw up because of the rote emptiness.

  10. Thank you Congressman Hultgren!

You show yourself to be a man of integrity and compassion.

Science has demonstrated that these pre-born babies feel pain as early as 12 weeks of gestation.

We can actually watch a young baby at this stage trying to get away from that deadly instrument about to swallow it up in what is called the SILENT SCREAM, the ultrasound video that shows the baby with its mouth wide open in a “silent scream” as it looses the battle for his or her life!

This is the very MOMENT OF TRUTH for the late Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who was the abortionist who first opened the largest abortion clinic in the nation, 24 hour non-stop abortions!

He described how he came to the horrible realization that he had presided over 60,000 deaths!

By his own admission, he also had to face the fact that abortion did not change the lives of women for the better, and that, in fact, it was a great tragedy for all, including the doctors he employed, whose wives told him in secret of the nightmares their husbands were experiencing as a result of the “work” they were doing at the abortion “clinic.”

Here was a doctor and an abortion pioneer who, in the early days believed in abortion, but after coming to the devastating realization that every abortion kills a living human being, he became a courageous and outspoken advocate for the pro-life cause!

God bless all who work to put an end to this barbaric period in our history.

Like the shameful practice of slavery in our land, may our elected representative do all that they can to hasten the day when the barbaric practice of abortion is ended and our most basic civil right, THE RIGHT TO LIFE is restored once more in America by men and women of integrity and courage like our Congressman Randy Hultgren!

  11. Well said Eileen!

If more knew these horrors you describe maybe this would stop.

I am grateful that more young people realize the truth.

  12. If God created everything, then God created abortions.

    Stop destroying what he created.

    Checkmate Tea Baggers!!!!!!

  13. That has to be the dumbest comment ever to be written on this blog.
