GOP Recommends Jeff Thorsen to Replace Ken Koehler

The following email came from McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Sandra Salgado:

Attached is the party recommendation for District 2, County Board.

The committee vetted the candidates and Jeff Thorsen was the only one who could speak to the issues with some depth of knowledge and is the only one who has the track record of working for the tax payers in an elected position.

This is not a “how does the person work with other board members” position as suggested by the board chair at last nights county board meeting.

The party will support Jeff Thorsen 100%.

Following is yesterday’s letter to McHenry County Board Chairman Joe Gottemoller accompanying the email:

Dear Chairman Gottemoller:

The McHenry County Republican Party appreciates the opportunity to make a recommendation to you for the appointment to the vacant Republican County Board District 2 seat.

This is a very important position within County Government to continue to serve our constituents in a conservative and fiscally responsible way.

Last evening a committee of five Precinct Committeemen from County Board District 2 spent three hours interviewing all five candidates.

Each candidate was asked the same questions and given the same opportunity to ask the Party questions.

After deliberation of the interviews, the McHenry County Republican Party is confident that our recommendation will serve the board and constituents with the highest ethics and values.

The McHenry County Republican Party recommends Mr. Jeffrey Thorsen for your appointment to fill the vacant Republican County Board District 2 seat.

We will look forward to working with County Board and all our other representatives as we all strive to reduce taxes, decrease government and serve our tax payers before self.

God bless,

Sandra Fay Salgado
MCGOP Chairman

GOP Recommends Jeff Thorsen to Replace Ken Koehler — 8 Comments

  1. Thorsen is the best choice.

Let’s see if Joe Goettmoller does the right thing or follows lock step with the establishment like he has on many decisions.

  2. I’m not shocked that Team Bianchi picked Thorsen because Thorsen is on Team Bianchi (or at least hovers around the periphery).

The problem is that Joe Gottemoller is not on Team Bianchi, and doesn’t care what Team Bianchi thinks or wants.

The easy money is on appointment of the (horribly unqualified) Cameron Hubbard.

  3. Jeff Thorsen was the only logical choice and an outstanding one.

    Hubbard?

I don’t know if Shepley will let his designated car washer leave.

But Gottemoller is a political bully who has only his best interests at heart (ask Oakhills folks, for example).

He’ll pick whichever candidate will dance to his tune.

He doesn’t have the guts to pick Jeff Thorsen.

    (But here’s hoping).

  4. I”m glad for Thorsen, he is a fiscal conservative.

His association with Bianchi does raise some eyebrows, though.

  5. Good for Jim Thorsen bad for us citizens that he will be leaving the city council he was the only voice of any kind of caring thought for us citizens, and COMMON SENSE! on that panel to date.

He can and does think outside of the BOX! and is the only one who voted NO for a unnecessary Tax hike for CL citizens I wish him Well he will be sorely missed!

God help us all to deal with the leftovers now… “the gladhanders”

  6. But Sandy GETS her good looks from her father. hahah

Anyway, LTResident, Thorsen was a good pick.

I am however concerned about the city council’s loss of him.
